“If anyone starts shooting, we’ll hear it; we don’t need to be on special alert” – these are the words many a lazy guard lives by… and also the last words of many who oppose the Lawgivers. While this Charm is active, Firearms attacks the Solar makes create no more noise than that of an arrow whistling through the air, negating any bonuses listeners might ordinarily gain to hear a gunshot. The target may still defend as normal, for the round is not entirely silent. The Solar may choose to have shots sound at their normal volume if he pleases; indeed, this is necessary to gain the benefits of Charms such as Thunder Shot Reverberation, which rely on the sound of the gunshot to function. Charms such as Nova Shell Ordnance, which generate sound but whose effect is not based upon that sound, have the same mechanical effect regardless of their sound or lack thereof.

Additionally, the Solar may spend 2m upon making an attack or flurry with a Firearms weapon to obscure his location from any observers. This places an external penalty of (Solar’s Firearms) on any attempts to locate his position by the sound of the shot or by the gun’s muzzle flare. This stacks normally with any equipment the Solar might have that serves a similar purpose, such as a suppressor. This Charm does not protect against opponents who are searching for the Solar by means that would function just as well if he had not just fired a gun, only against attempts that rely upon or exploit the presence of his weapon.

At Firearms 5, Essence 4, this Charm upgrades automatically, allowing the Solar to spend 3m to gain the benefit of this Charm’s active effect for the entire scene.
