Prerequisite Charms: None

The most fundamental principle of Harmonic Attunement is the bond between device and user. Forging this relationship with an artifact is a dramatic action which requires a number of days of meditation, study, and practice equal to its rating, and a commitment of up to (Essence) motes. A martial artist can bond only weapons and armor with this charm, and must bond integrated weapons separately from armor to which they are attached.

When using his bonded artifacts, a martial artist can easily overcome hindrances and distractions, reducing penalties to rolls using the item in question by one for each mote he has committed to it. In the case of a weapon, this charm can negate penalties to attack (except multiple action penalties) and parry DV. Used with armor, it can negate penalties to dodge DV and physical Attribute based rolls which are not part of attack resolution.

Additionally, at the start of a scene (before join battle is rolled) the martial artist rolls (Essence + Martial Arts) to establish his initial Sync value for the scene. This roll may be modified by stunts, Virtue channeling, specialties, penalties and other modifiers exactly as if it were an (Attribute + Martial Arts) roll, but cannot be enhanced by charms, and the martial artist’s Sync value can never be greater than his Essence.

When the exalt negates a penalty using this charm, his Sync value decreases by one. If this reduces his Sync to zero, his commitment to this charm for the item corresponding to the negated penalty instantly ends.
