Even on the field of battle – no, especially on the field of battle – the souls of man reach out, to be understood, to find companionship. In the understanding of others, one understands what truly matters; she who understands the hearts of others does not allow their jibes to rattle her. This Charm alters the Lawgiver’s Valor and Compassion, and may only be purchased if both Virtues are rated at 3+. This Charm modifies the way the Lawgiver must act around her loved ones (those she has a positive Intimacy towards).

After purchasing this Charm, the Lawgiver need never suppress Valor or Compassion to fight on the behalf of those she has positive Intimacies for, to fight those she has positive Intimacies for, to choose not to seek retribution when insulted or belittled, or to turn down a challenge for the sake of her loved ones. However, the Solar must suppress both Valor and Compassion to turn down a challenge to battle, to fail to work toward the benefit of a loved one when an opportunity presents itself, or to turn down a challenge of any sort from a loved one. Additionally, each scene in which she fights someone is considered a scene building a positive Intimacy toward that person.

Additionally, whenever the Solar rolls either her Compassion or her Valor, she converts these dice into automatic successes. Each time she would regain Willpower from resting, she may also regain a single spent channel of Conviction or Valor.

Finally, at the conclusion of each fight she takes part in, she rolls (Perception + [Investigation or Socialize] + [Valor or Compassion]) as an attempt at reading the motivation (Exalted Core Rules, pg. 131) of her primary opponent in the battle. This roll is not optional, but need not be enhanced with other Charms if the Solar does not wish to do so.
