Prerequisite Charms: Honored Companion of the Sun
The Lawgivers are not content with a mere signature weapon; their favored weapons bind themselves to their own legend, and become as much a part of the Lawgiver as her own arm. This Charm permanently enhances its prerequisite, granting the following benefits:
- The Solar immediately gains a positive Intimacy toward her weapon if she did not already have one, which is inviolable as if it were enhanced with Righteous Lion Defense. This Intimacy does not count toward her maximum number of Intimacies.
- When the Solar activates Integrity-Protecting Prana, the weapon is similarly protected; it may no more be transmuted to dust than the Solar herself could be.
- Scenes in which the Exalt wields her signature weapon count as two scenes for the purposes of other characters building Intimacies toward her.
- The Exalt’s weapon is as much a symbol as it is a tool of war – the weapon grants an equipment bonus of its Artifact rating to relevant social rolls when the weapon is used. Relevant social rolls vary based on the particular legend of the Exalt; inspiring allies is usually valid, as is intimidating enemies. The mere sight of the famed pirate Robart’s blade could make his suitors tingle in inappropriate places, while the warrior-queen Arturia’s blade was her badge of office, and all who saw it paid her the respect she was due.
Unless the Solar chooses to end this Charm upon her death, the wielder criteria function of Honored Companion of the Sun becomes permanent – only those who meet the criteria she has laid out or bearers of her Exaltation may wield her chosen weapon. Once the Solar has fallen, the Exalt’s Lunar Mate may wield her weapon if she would have allowed it at the time of her death. Future bearers of her Exaltation may not revoke that access or change the criteria until they learn this Charm and bond to the weapon in question.
Even should they learn this Charm and bond to a different weapon, the criteria for wielding this particular weapon remain the same – the runed black staff of L’gan Torm, for instance, could only be wielded by one who truly sought to defend others from harm, while the mystical blade of Jorl Shan may only be wielded by his descendants.
