Prerequisite Charms: First (Primordial) Excellency

For the Primordials, to learn is to change, and not always for the better. To understand a thing they must on some level accept it into themselves and adapt it to their own nature. This is why each of the Titans possessed their own expressions of the universe’s core concepts, and at the same time why the Maker’s sickness terrifies them so: simply knowing of it is enough to risk contagion among their number.

This charm activates reflexively and automatically whenever the character is exposed to an entirely new concept – typically, though by no means exclusively, an idea plucked from the infinity of the Wyld by another Primordial. When it does, the player and storyteller should work together to craft an adaptation of that concept in charm form appropriate to the learner’s nature, and then the character learns that charm as a training effect.

Activation of this charm is non-discretionary, once an idea has been encountered, but only the first charm related to a concept is treated this way. Grasping the basics, a character is at their discretion to explore the extents of the charm tree extending from it.

This charm is the one true identifier of an un-maimed Primordial. Though each of them knew it by a different name, this effect was what set the Titans apart from the Unshaped in the same way that sapience sets men apart from animals. Accordingly, its excisement from the creatures that would come to be known as the Yozi – necessary as it was to bind them within their conceptual prison – was a visceral horror and violation of self which undoubtedly contributed to Autochthon’s fear and eventual departure from Creation.
