Heroes who challenge foes with might greater than their own find that they rise to the task. Purchasing this Charm grants the pugilist a 10 mote Overdrive pool, or increases the size of an existing pool by that amount. For the remainder of the scene, the Champion of Legend gains the following additional ways to gain offensive motes:

  • She gains one offensive mote on each tick when she is physically attacked by an opponent of higher Essence
  • She gains one offensive mote each tick she is injured by an opponent of higher Essence (as in, takes any number of health levels of damage, or is affected by a Crippling, Shaping, Poison, or Sickness effect)
  • She gains one offensive mote on each action when she attacks someone of higher Essence

As an additional benefit for the remainder of the scene, the hero’s bare-handed attacks increase their Accuracy, Damage, and Defense by (Virtue Rating/3), and gain a magical material bonus appropriate to their nature – Solars gain the Orichalcum magical material bonus, Sidereals gain the bonus of Starmetal, and so on. Non-Exalted users gain no magical material bonus. This final bonus stacks with the bonus against opponents of greater Essence, but does not stack any effects that modify unarmed attacks for a non-Instant duration, excepting those provided by Charms of this style.

All of these bonuses disappear if the hero’s motives conflict.
